Lisa joined the HSP Direct creative team in 2009 with more than five years of experience in direct mail copywriting, production and account management. Her expertise in copywriting and package design has earned her accolades from both clients and peers.
She is a proud, Catholic-school educated, New Jersey native who earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the College of the Holy Cross in Massachusetts. Having been a Navy wife for more than 10 years, Lisa has a unique appreciation and perspective to offer our military clients.
Lisa and her husband live in Frederick, Md., with their two children.
After graduating from Villanova University in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy, Colin spent two years as an aide to U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA). In 2004, he left Washington D.C., to serve as field coordinator for the Republican National Committee's outreach effort to social conservatives in swing-state Pennsylvania. Colin received a special commendation for his work during the election, specifically for his efforts to register new voters.
Colin then joined the 55th Presidential Inaugural Committee, serving in the Office of Public Liaison. Shortly thereafter, he accepted a presidential appointment to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where he served as a confidential assistant in the Legislative Affairs Office of the Foreign Agricultural Service.
In August 2006, Colin joined the staff of HSP Direct and, before becoming an account executive, served as an account representative/account executive assistant, writing direct mail copy and managing programs for a diverse set of clients, ranging from campaigns and political action committees to pro-life and religious organizations.
Colin is married to Maura (McBryan) Burkhalter and they have two daughters, Maria Theresa and Anne de Sales.
Since joining HSP Direct in 2004, Ashley Ewer has focused on writing powerful fundraising copy for conservative political candidates and nonprofit clients.
Born and raised in central Pennsylvania, Ashley is a graduate of the Geneva College Honors Program with a bachelor's degree in History and Writing, and a minor in Biology. At Geneva, she was editor-in-chief of the campus newspaper, served on the student senate, and set a school record in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Ashley is also an alumna of the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies at Oxford University.
Ashley and her husband Jayson are active members of Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Vienna, Va., and devoted supporters of the local Crisis Pregnancy Center and foreign missions. They live in Herndon with their two young sons.
Jeff joined the creative team at HSP Direct in June of 2006, shortly after graduating Summa Cum Laude from Stony Brook University's Honors College with a bachelor's degree in Political Science and a master's degree in Public Policy. While attending Stony Brook University, Jeff was recognized as one of the nation's top conservative campus activists by The Phillip's Foundation, winning its "Ronald Reagan Future Leaders Award," and the Young America's Foundation.
A New York native, Jeff learned the ins and outs of grassroots conservative politics while serving in various capacities on several local, state and federal Republican campaigns. During that time, he also developed his expertise in direct mail fundraising. Today, Jeff's knowledge and experience in public policy and politics contribute to his ability to create direct mail letters that raise vital funds for our clients.
Jeff currently resides in Fairfax, Va., with his wife Alyssa.
Stuart has been a direct marketer since 1982, working in both publishing and direct mail fundraising. He joined HSP Direct in early 2010. Over the course of his career, Stuart has created successful fundraising campaigns for a wide variety of charitable, nonprofit, political and advocacy organizations, including: Paralyzed Veterans of America; AdoptaPlatoon; The Nature Conservancy; Wildlife Waystation; Black America's Political Action Committee; National Republican Senatorial Committee; Newt Gingrich's Renewing American Leadership; American Conservative Union; Pacific Aviation Museum -- Pearl Harbor; Gettysburg National Battlefield Foundation; The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum; and George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens.
His fundraising campaigns have received widespread industry recognition. His work was twice featured in Fundraising Success magazine; and his campaigns have won the International ECHO Award from the Direct Marketing Association; the POLLIE award from the American Association of Political Consultants; the MAXI (Marketing Award for eXcellence and Innovation) from the Direct Marketing Association of Washington; and the GOLD award from Fundraising Success.
Stuart earned a degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin. He and his wife, Debbie, live in Loudoun County, Va., and have three children, Jonathan, Stephen and Kelly. The family also has a sixth beloved member, a playful Boston terrier named Taz. Stuart enjoys being an assistant scoutmaster, a tae kwon do practitioner and a Green Bay Packer shareholder.
As vice president of Campaign Fundraising, Brady Newby leads HSP Direct's candidate fundraising practice. His extensive political experience allows him to accurately analyze and understand the unique circumstances and needs faced by HSP clients, who are running for political office. He works with each campaign to help craft compelling direct mail packages that tell the candidate's story and move donors to contribute. Brady's mail packages have helped HSP's candidate clients raise tens of millions of dollars for their campaigns.
His work has been acknowledged by the American Association of Political Consultants on multiple occasions with the prestigious "Pollie Award," recognizing the best in "political communication."
A graduate of Miami University in Ohio, Brady cut his teeth in politics working in the Contract with America office during the 1994 campaign cycle. He went on to work for House Speaker John Boehner and former Vice President Dan Quayle, and also served as a political appointee during President George W. Bush's first term. He joined HSP in 2004.
Pat brings nearly 20 years of experience in direct mail and the nonprofit arena to HSP Direct. He worked both as a volunteer and as the area director for Young Life of Frederick County, and, in 2001, Pat joined a prominent direct marketing firm. During his tenure, he quickly established himself as the go-to guy for clients who needed to position their new organizations for growth.
After successfully building several direct mail programs from the ground up, he moved to managing prospecting and acquisition strategies for each of his agency's clients until joining HSP in 2008. His direct mail expertise, coupled with his understanding of the fundraising challenges nonprofit organizations face, brings a valuable perspective to HSP's client projects.
Pat graduated with a bachelor's degree in Anthropology/Sociology and a Studio Art minor from Towson University. He then returned to his hometown of Frederick, Md., where he lives with his wife, Michelle, and their three daughters, Katie, Mallory and Maggie.
